It’s June and the native strawberries are now ripe for the pickin! You can’t beat native strawberries. They are shiniest, juiciest, sweetest, little jewels of flavor that make you smile when you pop them in your mouth. They appear at every farm stand across the state varying in size and price, but they all have one common denominator… they are delicious! Today I picked up 2 quarts and 1 pint of the delectable little morsels from two different farm stands and now I get to decide what to do with them. I already ate the pint straight up, no additions necessary, absolutely perfect! Now I get to decide what to do with the rest of them and the possibilities are endless: strawberry shortcake, a strawberry parfait, strawberry rhubarb pie, strawberry tart, strawberry compote to put on top of vanilla ice cream, strawberry ice cream, strawberry yogurt soup, strawberries with a little drizzle of balsamic and then there is always the basic, strawberry jam. No time to waste, I’m headed to the kitchen!
